  • 05/12/2006 Advice concerning the policy letter 2006-'07 of the minister competent for foreign arms trade

    The annual policy letter of the minister competent for the licences for import, export and transit of weapons, ammunition and material especially intended for military or order-maintaining purposes and for related technologies includes a list of situations for which the advice of the Peace Institute is requested. Following the advice of the Peace Institute, parliament will debate upon this policy letter resulting in a resolution for the Flemish Government.

  • 13/11/2006 Transparency in reporting on the Flemish foreign arms trade

    The Flemish Government regularly provides the Flemish Parliament with information on the approvals and denials of licences for the importation, exportation, and transit of military goods and equipment. An evaluation of the reporting methodology employed by the Flemish Government is needed since these reports are crucial to the exercise of parliamentary control on the Flemish policy of arms export. In addition the Flemish Peace Institute formulated some recommendations to improve reporting to the parliament.

  • 26/06/2006 Flemish Policy and UN Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security

    Note in reply to the question of the Flemish Parliament (Parliamentary Act of the Flemish Parliament, 2004-05, no. 68/5) "asking to make up a general state of affairs on how Flemish policy implements and can implement Resolution 1325 of the UN Security Council and to examine the gaps and obstacles undermining its implementation and how they can be overcome."
